Don’t get scammed by a Rogue Mover.

moving forward with relocations and removals

Times are hard and money is tight but don’t become a victim of a Rogue Mover. The Lowest price isn’t always the cheapest in the end. The price to replace damaged goods will far exceed the low price of a move. Even if all of your goods make it to your house “will” they be in the same condition on arrival. More importantly, when your goods arrive at your destination, does the mover you chose have the insurance to replace, or repair any damage while done in transit? A rogue mover will not tell you the name or provide proof of their insurance carrier. Does that mover have authority in the state you are moving? Do they have a carrier who has D.O.T. authority? Do they have a list of referrals, or list of satisfied customers that you can contact? Rogue movers are good at what they pretend to sell, so be cautious, and find out more before you commit.

In the end you get what you pay for. It is cost effective to have a mover with a great reputation, licensed and bonded with trained employees. So check out your mover or you might be worrying about who has your goods and if you will see them again, if your looking for quality remember, you probably won’t get that with the lowest price mover.

Here are a few ways to spot a Rogue Moving Company.

Your phone call is answered by an individual and they have a generic name “Movers” or “Moving Company”

When you call the company they are very willing to help and answer every question with “yes we can or do.”

The company you called doesn’t do any on site estimates. It is either done over the phone or on the internet and is unusually low and probably not legal.

The estimate is done by cubic feet or by truck space and not by the weight or by an hourly charge.

The company’s web site doesn’t provide a location of business or contact information.

The company gives a false address or will not provide you with one.

The company’s offices and or warehouse is in poor condition or nonexistent.

The company doesn’t provide the customer with a copy of Rights and Responsibilities. A real moving company is required by Federal regulations to give this to the shipper.

The company tells you that all your goods are completely covered by their insurance.

The company demands cash or a deposit before moving any of your goods.

On the day you move, they show up in a rental truck instead of a company owned or marked vehicle.

After your move, the company is extremely difficult to get in touch with.

The best way protect yourself from a Rogue mover is to ask questions. Get at least three quotes to help your decide who will be transporting your goods and memories. Meet face to face with the company’s salesman or representative.  If one sounds too good to be true it probably is. Protect yourself and have a great move.
